The full-text search (FTS) was implemented in #5219, but only for PostgreSQL dialect. The goal of this task is to track the effort of implementing the equivalent for SQL Server.

Briefing on SQL Server support:
  • the FTS is a separate component in SQL Server and needs to be installed when the SQL instance is set up;
  • CREATE FULLTEXT CATALOG ... needs to be used to create the Full-Text catalog;
  • then CREATE FULLTEXT INDEX ON <table>;
  • then the queries can use CONTAINS operator which can be used as:
    SELECT * FROM aTable WHERE CONTAINS(aColumn, '"aPrefix*" OR "aWord"');
    There are 3 operators, but it's not clear for me at this moment whether the parentheses can be used. This is pretty similar to 4GL and PSQL small grammar for searches.
