We have coded the initial implementation in #1811 (see notes 1084, 1089, 1091 and 1094 through 1103). The work is in task branch 1811q but it will be merged to trunk next week.
This seems like a bug in Java. This is very low priority so we are not going to work it in the Milestone 12.
